Norma Jean "Jeanne" Wood

Norma Jean (Jeanne) Wood was released from her Earthly existence on Sunday, December 31, 2017. She was born in Ankeny, Iowa on November 3, 1924 to Joseph and Wilma (Ganoe) Harvey. She was the fifth of 10 children. She married Jack Franklin Wood on August 8, 1944. Jack passed in 2002.

Jeanne retired from Mercy Medical Center after 22 years. She was a great cookie maker and pie baker. She enjoyed walking for exercise and playing cards.

She is survived by daughter Patty; sisters Georgia (Toots) Greenland and Kay (Wayne) Rockwell; grandchildren: R. Brent (Julie) Oden, R. Bryan Oden, Becky (Grant) Maxwell, John (Shelly) Shelley Jr, Michelle K. Shelley; 15 great-grandkids and 9 great-great grandkids; also, numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack; daughters Diane Oden and Linda Shelley; five brothers and two sisters.

A very special 'Thank You' goes out to the entire staff at Union Park Health Care Services. They are angels that filled mom's life with smiles, hugs, kisses and love. She could not have been in a better place. The care staff, the management staff, the kitchen crew, the laundry and the cleaning staff are all five star!

Visitation will be at Hamilton's Funeral Home near Highland Memory Gardens on Saturday, January 6th at 11 a.m. and a celebration service of Jeanne's life will follow at noon.
