Daniel W. Dooley, age 71, passed away January 25, 2018 at the Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born, May 25, 1946 to Max U. Dooley, Sr. and Rose Margaret Johnson in Newton, Iowa. As a young boy Dan was raised on the farm with his parents being dairy and crop farmers. He was active in 4H, played football, graduating from Altoona High School in 1964. Dan served in the US Army from December, 1965 through October 1967. On July 19, 1968 Dan married Sharon Carter at the Ivy Centennial Methodist Church in Altoona, Iowa.

Dan worked as a welder for many years, in 1977 he and his family moved to Unionville, MO, where he started his own welding business, Dan and Sons Welding. Dan eventually started driving semi over the road. During his 30 year driving career he hauled livestock, perishable food and meat, oversized loads into Canada. He hauled mail for the United States Post Office and then finally Archer Daniels Midland until his retirement in 2011 due to health issues. Dan loved his truck driving career making friends wherever he went. Dan received numerous awards and certificates for safe driving as well as his courteousness while on the road over the years.

Dan is survived by his wife, children Lori Choate-Trusheim (Steve), Christopher, Wendy Poudrier (Brent), and Aaron Dooley. Grandchildren, Kelsey Choate, Andrew Choate, Katelynn Choate, Kyle Dooley, Zoey Woods (Brendon), Ethan Anderson, and Carter Daniel Dooley who will bless us with his arrival very soon. Great granddaughter Adalyn Rae DePorter and a great grandchild to bless us in the summer. Father-in-law Leonard Carter. Sister Pat LaFary (Dale), brothers-in-law, Scott Carter (Becky), Steve Carter (Debbie) as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who he adored.

Dan is preceded in death by his son Eric Wayne Dooley, his parents, his brother Max U Dooley, Jr., sister-in-law Sharon K. Dooley, his mother-in-law Margaret Carter, his grandparents Charlie and Gladys Dooley and wade and Olive Johnson.

There will be a Celebration of Life on February 10, 2018 form 1-4 PM, at the Ivy Centennial United Methodist Church, 9150 E. University, Altoona, Iowa. Food and drink will be provided along with lots of memories.
