Peggy Holmes
February 24, 2018
Peggy Holmes passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on February 24, 2018.
She was born Peggy June Armstrong on September 14, 1948 to Harley and June Armstrong of Des Moines. She was a southsider all of her life, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1966. Peggy spent many years working in food service for the Des Moines Public Schools, and adored interacting with students at several local schools. She disliked scary movies, cooking, going barefoot, and (mostly) hated if you made a fuss. She enjoyed junk food, R&B music, American Pickers, her visits to Baratta’s, (where they took good care of her), and she loved her only grandchild to the moon and back.
Peggy is survived by her son, Doug (Michelle) Daugherty; granddaughter, Parker Daugherty; brothers, James C. (Sharon) Armstrong and Timothy (Myrtle) Armstrong; her favorite aunt, Beulah Jean Veasman; and other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both of whom she missed dearly.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 pm Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Doug Daugherty for Parker’s college savings account.
Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonFuneralHome.com.

I've know Peggy since I was in middle school as she was my lunch lady and than got the pleasure to catch up with her all over again on her trips to Barattas when I worked there. To the nicest, most genuine lady out there.. She always kept me in the loop with her family she adored. Hope the cav and onion rings are just as good in heaven! May god be with Peggy's family during this hard time.

Doug, Michelle and Parker and to Peggy's family....she made a huge difference in my life. We met under crazy circumstances but our friendship was the best anyone could ask for. We laughed until we cried...we danced till we couldn't breath..we shopped until stores closed and we LOVED our boys and families. I can't believe I won't have girl time anymore but in the end we will be laughing again in heaven. Shane knew her for the last nine years and loved her as much as I did. Our prayers are always with you.
