Harry A. DiMaio

Harry A. DiMaio, 63, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018 after a short illness surrounded by his loving family at Mercy Medical Center. He was born November 20, 1954 to Bennie and Harriett (Johnson) DiMaio in Des Moines.

Harry graduated from SE Polk High School and began his 40 year career with the International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local 33. He enjoyed planting flowers and racing RC boats. Harry created many memories with family and friends in his garage drinking his PBR, smoking his Old Golds, and blaring his music. His greatest joy came from spending time with his wonderful grandchildren where he made sure they knew love, kindness, and a good laugh.

Harry is survived by his loving wife of almost 45 years, Pam; children, Chad (Kim) DiMaio and Lacey (Todd) Morris; grandchildren, Caden, Cohen, Samantha, Jacob, and Jaycee; and a host of other family and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018.at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, with interment to follow at Lowman Cemetery near Runnells. Visitation will be held 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
