Ethel Rhoades

Ethel L. Rhoades, 87, passed away at home on April 13, 2018. She was born January 23, 1931, in Boone to Joseph and Mary (Dickerson) Williams.

Ethel retired from Firestone after 20-plus years where she worked in payroll and scheduling.

Ethel was the true matriarch of her family. She cherished family get-togethers and playing games. She was a talented cook and rarely used a recipe. Ethel loved vegetable gardening, tending to her flowers, and dancing. She had a great sense of humor, a smile for everyone, and was always up for an adventure.

Ethel is survived by her children, Michael (Sherri) Rhoades and Marta Parsons; grandchildren, Amanda Rhoades, Jesse (Tiffany) Rhoades, and Lenox Parsons; great-grandchildren, Berklee, Addie, and Braylynn; brother-in-law, Robert (Charlene) Rhoades; sister-in-law, Cleda (Ralph Johnston) Rhoades; and a host of other family and beloved friends.

She is reuniting with her husband, Archie; siblings, Bessie, Ortha, Helen, and Marv; half-siblings, Harry, Norman, Thelma and Archie Franklin; and her parents.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated at a later time.
