Wanda Nell, age 85 passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born the daughter of Lloyd and Myrtle Carroll on January 10, 1933 in Auburn, Iowa.

Wanda was a hospice volunteer for 3 years and worked as a waitress for Babe’s Restaurant for 45 years. She was a member of Glen Echo Church. Wanda owned the Silver Saddle bar in Des Moines during the late 60’s. Some of her fondest memories included displaying lights at her home for every holiday, shopping and camping with her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a caring and giving woman.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children, Linda (Darrell) Turner and Jacob (Sherri) Schwitters; grandchildren, Amber Turner, Lance Turner, Michele Hartzer, Amy Schwitters, Brian Schwitters, Adam Schwitters, and Josh Schwitters; several great-grandchildren; and brother, Marion (Lois) Carroll.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; son, Bobby Schwitters; siblings, Carol Jean Carroll, Ike Carroll, Red Carroll, Darlene Garrells, Lavonna Plum, Gerald Carroll, and Jimmy Carroll.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 23rd at Glen Echo Christian Church, 4323 Douglas Ave., followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery.
