Michael Dean Hedegard

Michael Hedegard, passed away peacefully after an inspiring, courageous battle with Leukemia on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He made sure he held on as long as he could to spend his dad’s birthday with him and made it special by saying “I love you daddy.” Michael was born the son of Michael and Nicky Hedegard on September 3, 2015 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Michael was known by many as Mikey Ikey! Michael loved his train song, dinosaurs and called them “rawr rawrs” and gave the best snuggles and rawrs! One of his favorite saying was “Hulk Smash.” Mikey enjoyed watching Paw Patrol and Finding Nemo - “Just keep swimming!” Mikey loved to tease grandma, Jo Ann and liked when Papa Gary “Cave man” would always ask Mikey “Do you wanna fight?” Mikey always had his cheesin’ face on! He was loved by all who met him, and will be greatly missed. He will forever be Mikey Strong!

Michael is deeply loved by his loving parents; grandparents, Penny and Gary Bos, Papa Jeff and Jo Ann Hedegard, and John (Kelli) Ollin; great-grandma, Virginia and Dean Mallory; aunts and uncles, Travis (Tracey) Bos, Johnny (Heatherly) Ollin, Monte (Krista) Ollin, Kody (Kelsi) Ollin, and Amy (Aaron) Routh; many great aunts & uncles, cousins, and other loving family members.

Michael “Mikey” will be greeted in Heaven by his grandpa, Michael Hedegard “Papa Mike”; great-grandparents, Jayell and Geraldine Bos, and John and Bessie Money; great aunt, Janelle Bos; and his brother-in-infancy, Ozias Michael.

Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m., Monday, April 23, 2018, with funeral service following at 2 p.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
