Kenneth J. Schroeder

Kenneth J. Schroeder, 87, passed away September 8, 2018, at his home in Des Moines. He was born November 6, 1930, in Postville, Iowa, to Lloyd and Clara Schroeder.

Kenny resided in Postville much of his life where he dedicated himself to farming. He moved to the Des Moines area in 1972 and worked for Iowa Cattlemen’s Association prior to starting his own company, K-Jon Construction. Kenny retired in 1995.

Kenny was a member of Masonic Lodge #204 (Brotherly Love Lodge in Postville), Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Iowa Cattlemen’s Association, Des Moines Home Builders and Home Builders Association of Iowa, Pleasant Hill Development Commission and Pleasant Hill Comprehensive Committee, served as Chair for Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce and Pleasant Hill City Council, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville where he was confirmed April 1944, and St. John Lutheran Church in Des Moines.

Kenny is survived by his sons, John (Vicki) Schroeder and Doug (Diane) Schroeder; grandchildren, Jason (Raelynn) Schroeder, Lisa (Drew) Walter, Jamie (Jeremy) Arend, and Ashley (Justin) Harker; great-grandchildren, Logan, Macy, and Carter Schroeder, Aidan and Camden Walter, Carson Arend, and Jaxon and Jentry Harker; brother, Keith (Janet) Schroeder; sister, Marian Frederich; sister-in-law, Twila Schroeder; and a host of other loving family and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Schroeder; brothers, Wayne Schroeder and Leo Schroeder; and his brother-in-law, George Frederich.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018, at Postville Cemetery in Postville, Iowa.
