Jerald Morris Wendelboe
Of Des Moines, Iowa
Jerald Wendelboe, age 84, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Parkridge Nursing & Rehab Center. He was born the son of Eilert and Alice Wendelboe on September 8, 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Jerald proudly served his country in the US Navy. He had a love for being outdoors, gardening, fishing, and had his pilot license and especially enjoyed flying. Like any good Irishman he enjoyed good whiskey.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Marjorie; son, Douglas Wendelboe; siblings, David (Mary) Wendelboe, Sharyn Frye and Carol Blakley; granddaughter, Heather (Bill) Shafer; and great-grandchildren Billy and Jesse.
Jerald was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Wendelboe; daughter, Lorrie Canny; brother, Eilert; and sister, Eileen.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 15, 2018, with funeral service following at 11:00 a.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Inurnment will take place at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter at a later date.

I am so sorry to hear about Jerald's passing. I am in Canada and I am sorry I won't be there to pay my respects. I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to know Jerald and am so grateful you chose Parkridge to be his second family! He was a wonderful man and I will miss his smile and "how are ya Missy" that he always greeted me with. My heart is with you and I will keep you in my prayers!! Please take care of yourself Marge
