Ruth Elizabeth Gibbens, 91, passed away December 9, 2018 at Taylor House Hospice.
Ruth was born May 15, 1927 in Elkader, Iowa to Paul and Gertrude Bossard. She enjoyed cooking, garage sales, camping and fishing. Ruth had a beautiful heart, she was a very giving person who loved and treasured her family above all else. She was a faithful member of Bloomfield United Methodist Church.
Ruth is survived by her children, Sheryl (Brad), Paul, Steve (Jackie), David (Dawn), Mark, Scott (Lori), Jim (Gloria) and Sandi (Tom); 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marie; first husband, Judd Heldt; and her second husband, Moe Gibbens.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 14th at Bloomfield United Methodist Church, 5930 Indianola Avenue. Ruth will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Bloomfield United Methodist Church in loving memory of Ruth.

I just found out about Ruthie Bagonia - thats what us Cornish kids called her! She was such a nice caring and loving individual. Our hugs and prayers to the whole family. I loved Ruth! She was so fantastic in so many ways. I loved her stories about her kids and Judd and Moe. She was always positive, loving, and genuine. I will miss her deeply but am happy knowing that God was so close to her and I can envision God meeting her, being happy that she finally came home. The world certainly was that much better with Ruth in it. And you know how people always say things about praying for the loved one who died, take comfort believing that we are the ones who need and will benefit from Ruth's spirit.

Ruth was the most humble person that I have ever met. She cherished her family and her faith. She truly was a good and faithful servant in all that she did. We will miss her so very much.
