Floyd "Bud" Allen

Floyd A. Allen, 77, passed away January 11, 2019, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family and friends. He was born July 13, 1941, in Grinnell, Iowa, to Ernest and Colleen (LaGrange) Allen.

Floyd graduated from Aplington High School and the University of Northern Iowa, formerly known as State College of Iowa.

Floyd founded Fluid Technology Corporation in 1983 and grew a successful business until his retirement in 2017. He was well known as ‘Fluid Floyd’ throughout the years.

Floyd was a member of Lutheran Church of the Cross in Altoona and the Auburn-Union Park Masonic Lodge in Des Moines.

Floyd is survived by his loving wife with whom he just celebrated 50 years of marriage, Reneé (Webster) Allen; daughter, Julie (Mark) Allen-Rague; son, Daniel (Heather) Allen; his mother, Colleen Allen; grandchildren, David, Avery, and Alex Rague; brother, Kenneth Allen and his family; as well as other loving family, countless friends and business associates. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 4-7 p.m.
