Service Details

Lauretta Anderson of Des Moines, IA, age 82, passed away on April 14th, 2019, peacefully in her home joining her parents Mildred and Marion Easton, as well as two brothers Marion Easton Jr, and Lynn Easton in heaven.

Lauretta is survived by her husband Hugh McNeil Anderson; her children Anissa Wright and Shaun (Faith) Anderson; her brother Marc Easton and sister Janice Elsner; her grandchildren Bret Anderson, Alexander Wright, Demeatrius Wright and Lindsey Wright; and 4 great grandchildren.

Lauretta was born on November 1st, 1936 in Boone, IA to Mildred Lauretta Easton and Marion Oliver Easton. She was the firstborn of five children, and raised on a farm. She graduated from Luther Consolidated School and furthered her education at Iowa Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in the class of 1958 as a registered nurse. On April 9th, 1960 she married the love of her life, her husband of 59 years, Hugh McNeil Anderson, in Boone, IA at Augustana Lutheran Church. She held various positions as a registered nurse before taking time off in her career to take care of two adopted children during their tender years before continuing her career at Heather Manor where she achieved the position of director of nursing.

Lauretta was a God loving woman who devoted her life to taking care of everyone surrounding her and in her free time enjoyed watching the birds and deer in her back yard, baking, cooking, reading her bible, and ultimately spending time with family, and friends. Lauretta was one of the liveliest people and had a kind-hearted soul.

She will be deeply missed by her friends, family and all that knew her. Though our hearts were not ready to let her go, and her laugh, presence, and smile, will be missed, she is in a better place. For the woman that always went above and beyond, we will live on and continue to make her proud. In her passing she would want everyone to remember from the Book of 1 Peter to keep learning from the word of God, to keep loving, laughing, leaving cares behind, longing (dreaming), looking, laboring, being fruitful, leaning on the Lord, and listening.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 26th, 2019, at Hamilton’s by Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Lauretta.
