Lisa R. Kamau

Lisa René Kamau, age 43, passed away Friday, June 7, 2019 after a courageous battle with liver disease. She was born December 22, 1975 in Rock Island, IL to Annette and Johnny Newson. She adored her grandkids above all else. Lisa enjoyed cooking and dreamed of one day having her own garden. She attended Bible Missionary Church and worked previously at Fareway in Highland Park.

She is survived by her children: Quinton Taylor (wife Alyssa), Nicholas Hickman, Cory Hickman, and Annette Hickman; grandchildren: Quintavion, Aaliyah, Isaac, Jayla, Kamari, Gabrielle, and one on the way. She is also survived by her parents Johnny Newson and Annette Newson, siblings: J.R. Newsom (wife Brenda), Marvin Newsom, Joyce Comfort (husband Charles), and Jack Newsom (wife Julie), special cousin Alisha Sunnes, father of her children Joe Hickman, and a host of other extended family and friends.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 10, 2019 at Bible Missionary Church, 4180 SE 16th St, Des Moines.
