Leila "Jo" Joan Wallace

Leila “Jo” Wallace, 89, passed away on June 12, 2019, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born September 19, 1929, in Burlington, Iowa.

Jo was married to her loving husband Gene for 66 years until he passed away in 2018. She was a strong member of Stover Memorial Church of the Brethren in Des Moines. Jo enjoyed watching birds, sewing and quilting. Each new baby in the family would receive a lap quilt and she often shipped them all over the world for those in need. She loved baseball, especially cheering on the Atlanta Braves.

Jo is survived by her son, Lundy Wallace; grandchildren, Kevin (Ashley) Willits, Allison Willits, Rebecca Willits, and Kurtis Willits; great-grandchildren, Jade, McKenzie, Gavon, Izyck, Abbygale, Kyler, and Kooper; four sisters; many nieces and nephews, as well as other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; daughter, Jacquie; son, Woody, and her parents.

A graveside service open to family and friends will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2019, at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
