Curtis E. Naeve

Curtis Eugene Naeve
(August 2nd, 1952 to September 13th, 2019)
Curt was born to Don and Shirley Naeve on August 2nd, 1952 in Humboldt. Don was a Navy veteran and exceptional carpenter and Shirley was an operator with Northwestern Bell. Curt graduated from Urbandale High School and started his career with Northwestern Bell, the same place his mom worked. He met the love of his life, Pam, when he was 20 years old. They were married 47 years and were blessed with 4 sons and 12 grandchildren.
Curt spent most of his life helping others, asking for nothing in return. He coached all of his kid's youth sports teams and the lessons went far beyond the playing field. Curt was often referred to as a “second dad” and was always available to lend an ear and offer advice to anyone in need. He spent countless hours helping family and friends with anything they needed, and was happy to serve as voluntary foreman on any job, often sharing the carpentry skills his father taught him.
Curt was lucky enough to retire from the phone company at the age of 50, after 30 years of service. He spent the next 17 years doing exactly what he wanted...he hunted, fished, puttered, pondered, loved, fought, and taught all of us how great of a man he was and how big his heart was. He spent some of the time working on his farms but he spent most of his time with his loving wife, sons, and his favorite of all, grandkids.
Curt was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Shirley and granddaughter, Abby. He is survived by his loving wife, Pam; sons, Craig (Tania), Tom (Stephanie), Tyler (Kristina), Lance (Libby); grandchildren, Kylie, Ashlyn, Dawson, Cael, Treyton, Ella, Kyra, Kaylen, Lilly, Caroline, and Calvin. Our husband, dad, father-in-law, and grandfather will be loved and missed for the rest of our lives.
All services will be at Rising Sun Church of Christ, 6390 E. Oakwood Dr., Pleasant Hill, IA. 50327. Visitation: Friday, September 20th from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral: Saturday, September 21st at 10am with luncheon immediately following. Memorial contributions may be made to Southeast Polk Dollars for Scholars in the name of Curt Naeve. Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

Dear Cousin Pam and family, I was so sad to hear about Curt. I can't begin to imagine what you and your family have had to endure this past week. Curt was called Home early in his life, but he left a legacy that few will ever know. Curt's life mattered to you, the children you shared and your grandchildren, plus a large family and many friends. Lean on each other now. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

Pam, Craig, Tom, Tyler, Lance,
My heart aches for all of you. I can't believe Curt is gone so soon. I will always cherish the time that I had with Curt, whether it was coaching Tyler and Johnny, or running into Curt and Pam at local restaurants, with enjoyable conversations. Curt was always glad to see us, and always upbeat.
I'm proud to have known Curt, and please know that the Naeve family will always be in our thoughts and prayers.
Curt, have a good laugh with Jon Bomer, up there in Heaven, for old times sake. I love you, man !!

Pam, Tom, and the entire family. I am sorry to hear about Curt's passing. I will always remember Curt being there to coach us through the years. Recently, I found an old team photograph of a Little Ram flag football team. I think Tom and I were in 6th grade. Ten 6th graders in that team photo and Curt as our coach. And my dad coaching right alongside Curt. That's what I remember. Curt always being there to coach our teams, to push us, and to encourage us. He was there for all of us and supported us until our final days of high school. I feel lucky to have had Tom as a classmate and teammate. That also meant I was blessed to have Curt as a coach for so many years. My thoughts are with the entire family. He will be missed.

Dear Pam, Craig, Tom, Tyler, Lance, his many grandchildren and his many, many friends I send you my deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers
Curt was absolutely one of the finest people I have ever had the pleasure to know and it was an honor to call him my friend.
His devotion to his family was exemplary and his kindness was truly an example for everyone.
I can't remember all the times he helped me out with his 'awe shucks, no problem' reply
He was the toughest man , mentally and physically, but had the BIGGEST heart for his family and friends.
Curt had a great sense of humor and we shared many laughs
It seemed like Curt could fix anything with stuff he just had laying around. I would call him MacGuyver.
I would joke with him that if he had a broken down tractor he would grab a roll of duct tape and a tooth pick and fix it, maybe a paper clip, too, just incase it was a little more difficult fix that he first thought.
Curt lifted people up to do their best when working with him because you knew that's what you would get from him
Curt will be greatly missed by all that knew him!! Rest in Peace my very good friend!
