Andrey Straumanis, DDS

Andrey Straumanis, 81, of Des Moines, Iowa died Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Polk City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Polk City, Iowa.

He was born May 30, 1938 in Riga, Latvia, and came to the United States at the age of 12. Andrey graduated from Solon High School and the University of Iowa with a DDS degree and worked in his profession for many years.

Andrey is survived by his daughters, Inga of Minneapolis and Aija of Des Moines; the mother of his children, Vija Straumanis; and his brother, Juris of Tipton, Iowa; as well as extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Uldis; sister, Mara Figenshaw; and brother, Janis.

The family wishes to thank Polk City Nursing and Rehab staff for the wonderful care of Andrey.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
