Phillip A Garrison

Phillip Arthur Garrison, 88, passed away on January 8, 2020. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa on May 7, 1931, to James and Alice Garrison.

Phillip graduated from East High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy during the Korean War. In 1954, he married Thurmadene Lester. He worked for the Des Moines Fire Department as a Fire Medic as well as working as an electrician. Phillip enjoyed fishing, retirement at Lake Ponderosa for 15 years, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Phillip is survived by his children, John (Cindy) Garrison, Nancy Le Blanc, and JayDee (Rhonda) Garrison; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Morrill. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thurmadene; son, Kevin Garrison; son-in-law, J.D. Le Blanc; siblings, James, Roger and Harry Garrison.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 13, 2020, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. A private graveside service will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
