Phyllis Ruth Peterson, 72, passed away surrounded by loved ones on February 4th, 2020 following a short struggle with Leukemia.
Phyllis was born on Valentine's Day, 1947 in Kankakee, Illinois, the daughter of Ruth and Jack Zeilenga. She attended Central College in Pella, Iowa, where she met Michael Peterson. They married in 1969 and raised four boys before celebrating 50 years of marriage in 2019.
Phyllis was a woman of very strong faith who welcomed everyone she met as family.
Phyllis is survived by her husband Michael; her sons Rob (Shawna), Eric (Holly), and Andy (Heather); her brothers Jack (Carol), Keith (Jeannine), and Ralph Zeilenga; several beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and many many friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her son Mark and her parents.
Celebration of Life Services will be at 2pm Saturday February 8th at Prairie Ridge Church in Ankeny, Iowa. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.

I am so sorry to hear of Phyllis passing away. I had no idea she had been I'll. God has gained a special person to be with him in heaven. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

I just received Bonnies notice of your wifes graduation to be with Jesus. Having lost my Vicky last October, Im guessing you have began a journey somewhat similar to mine. Not having ever gone through anything like this before, I did not understand grieving. Ill share with you what has been meaningful to this point.
