John Moon, 64, passed away February 23, 2020 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
John was born September 27, 1955 in Des Moines to Jack and Irene (Dyer) Moon. He graduated from North High School. John retired from Firestone Tire. He enjoyed music, especially AC/DC, watching NASCAR, and spending time with his grandchildren. John liked to fix things and challenge himself to see just what he could do.
John is survived by his mother, Irene Moon Toncar; sons, Rob (Tasha) and Adam Moon; grandchildren, Jaxon and Paul Moon; significant other, Pam Ogg; her children, Rob, Dan, and Carrie; and grandchildren, Alex, Ashley, Chloie, Ren, Nieco Nieva, Alex, Jordan, Bella and Kenzie; siblings, Jim Moon and Diane (Wilbur) Wilson; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Moon; step-father, Robert Toncar; brother, Jeff Moon; and many friends.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2020 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. The family will greet friends following the service at LD’s Corner Bar, 344 E. Jackson Avenue to celebrate John’s life.

John and Jim Moon where my childhood friends in Hyland Park, Iowa. I was Proud to have helped fix his Fathers Truck one day when I was at his house on 5th Street in Des Moines, Iowa when we were children. I am sure the Angels have taken John Moon to Heaven to be with Jesus Christ.

John was a wonderful man, full of smiles and shenanigans if he could get away with them (or at least try)
He loved his family and cherished Pammy. His grandkids were the sparkle in his eyes. He will be sorely missed by so many but never forgotten.
