Jacob and Jordan Van Gundy
Des Moines
Jacob Lee and Jordan Joseph Van Gundy, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
They are survived by their parents, Jason and Stacey Van Gundy; siblings, Rose (Johnathon) Swanson and Lily (Jacob) Keeney; nieces and nephews, Eleanor, Sophie, Samuel, Madelyn, and 2 on the way; grandparents, Shirley (Clay) Hines, Stephen Hymer, and Anita (Dennis) Van Gundy; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends.
Jacob was born July 13, 1995 in Des Moines, Iowa to Jason and Stacey (Hymer) Van Gundy. He graduated from East High School in 2013 and went on to work in the family business, The Finished Edge with his dad and brother. He enjoyed skateboarding and hanging out with friends. He loved to play video games and was a very good artist. Jacob had a great sense of humor and was a real goofball, but was always known to be a perfectionist.
Jordan was born November 17, 1997 in Des Moines, Iowa to Jason and Stacey (Hymer) Van Gundy. He graduated from East High School in 2016 and also went on to work in the family business with his dad and brother. He enjoyed Frisbee golf, drawing and hanging out with his friends but his built in best friend was his brother, Jacob. If you were ever in need, Jordan was the one to call. You could always count on him!
They were the best of friends and extremely close. They enjoyed living together and had just moved in together in January.
There will be no formal services for them at this time but the family encourages everyone to join them at one of the vigils to celebrate the lives of Jacob and Jordan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Jacob and Jordan.
Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

I knew Jordan for a short time in highschool while we were in IHSSA together performing. He was so sweet and kind. I think about him often and will always remember how he made sure that I ate breakfast one day, as I was vegetarian and there were no options for me. I will never forget Jordan and Jacob as my brother and I share your names.

This world lost two vibrant personalities. Jacob had the most contagious smile and laugh. Jordan had always found a way to make everyone smile and laugh. A perfect duo that will continue to light up the sky when days are darkest. I wish I were back home to cherish memories of them with everyone but for now I can only give my deepest condolences and utmost strength to the Van Gundy family. Your sons are, and forever will be, loved.
