Service Details

Orville Alden, 61, passed away October 21, 2020 at home after a brief illness surrounded by his loving friends and caregivers.

Orville was born October 10, 1959 to Orville Alden Sr. and Helen Rose. He is the middle child with an older brother, older sister and a younger sister.

He lived at Woodward State Hospital & School and Broadlawns West before moving to Behavioral Technologies in 1988. While living at Behavioral Technologies he participated in several jobs that he enjoyed. One job he enjoyed for many years was at Des Moines Bolt Supply (DMB).

Orville will be remembered by all who knew him for his kindness, consideration, patience, and generosity. He loved Star Wars, drawing, and playing hand held games. He was always smiling and was quite the jokester. His caregivers will especially miss his concern of them as they left for the day and him telling them to “drive safe!”

Orville is survived by his friend and guardian, Scott Horton and all of his Behavioral Technologies family and friends, especially the caregivers who helped him during his illness these past few months. He will be greatly missed by everyone.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2020 also at the funeral home. Orville will be laid to rest at Oralabor Cemetery in Ankeny, Iowa. For those unable to attend in person, they invite you to join them virtually through the link in his obituary found on Hamilton’s website.
