Gerardo Martinez Salazar

Gerardo Martinez Salazar, 46, passed away unexpectedly on Monday December 21, 2020. He was born September 24, 1974 in Veracruz, Mexico. He worked hard to become a United States Citizen, which he achieved in 2017.

Gerardo was a dry wall taper for Local 246 for over 10 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching boxing, and soccer. Gerardo looked forward every year to his wedding anniversary on New Year’s Eve when his wife would cook his favorite dish – Caldo de Marisco. His nieces and nephews will always remember him for always giving them a dollar every time he saw them.

Gerardo is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kathy Harper-Martinez; his parents, Lina Salazar and Gonzalo Jimenez of Vera Cruz, Mexico; his siblings, Lino Jimenez-Salazar, Jose Martinez-Salazar, Felix Martinez-Salazar, Asuncion Martinez-Salazar, Araceli Martinez-Salazar, and Angela Benigna Martinez Salazar, all of Mexico; and many nieces and nephews in the United States and Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will occur at a later date at St. Anthony Catholic Church with inurnment to occur at Glendale Cemetery.
