Service Details

Travis Parsons joined our Lord and Savior on January 20, 2021. He was born June 13, 1980 in Des Moines to Kenneth and Debra (Hledik) Parsons.

Known as "Mr. Awesome", he truly lived up to this name. Trav had a heart of gold and he was a blessing to all who knew him. He enjoyed helping others with any task and every challenge. He was a man with much energy and enthusiasm, as well as an all-around athlete.

Travis participated in many RAGBRAIs, ran in several marathons, and he played with many sports leagues including softball, kickball, broomball, dodgeball.

A dedicated longtime employee with VanMeter, Inc., Travis was also a volunteer Firefighter and EMT.

His greatest heartfelt passion was devoting his time and talent as a volunteer with AHeinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport. He had a gift with people and animals. There he offered his help in any and every way. Travis served as MC for fundraising events, provided "bodyguard" service, maintenance/handyman work, and tapping into his "Dog Whispering" skills to help train and transition dogs toward becoming companionable and adoptable members of loving families. You're invited to view an endearing memorial tribute, complete with many photographs, on their AHeinz57 Facebook page.

Survived by his beloved fur baby, Storm; parents, Kenneth and Debra Parsons; brother, Brent Parsons; niece, Rylee Parsons; paternal grandmother, Marguerite Parsons; maternal grandparents, Earl and Doris Hledik; as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles.

Travis is welcomed in Heaven by his Grandpa (Keith) Parsons, Aunt Bev, his Cousin Brian, and his fur baby Rusty.

For the safety of family and friends, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the cause that Travis loved and supported most, AHeinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport, PO Box 188, DeSoto, IA 50069.
