Elena Gomez Elena Gomez, 68, died Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Iowa Methodist Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2010 at Our Lady of the Americas followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.

Elena was born August 17, 1941 to Dionicio and Concepcion Ochoa in Furley, IA. She was a member of Guadalupe Chapel. Elena enjoyed cooking and plants.

Elena is survived by her husband of 46 years, Juan Negrete Gomez; children, Juan Gomez, Jr., Lupe Ordaz, Maria (Jose) Valdez, Martin (Juanita Flores) Gomez, Jose (Lisa) Gomez, Barbara Gomez, Raul (Jennifer) Gomez and Pedro (Elisha) Gomez; 36 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brothers, Simon, Ismael, Daniel, Martin and Felis; sisters, Olivia, Isabel, Lydia and Selfia. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Juanita; granddaughter, Makenna; brothers, Jaime and Alfredo; and her sister, Amelia.
