Melvin G. Lacher Melvin Lacher, 82, died Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born February 18, 1927 in Des Moines to Ruth (Nelson) and Jesse Lacher.

He retired in 1985 from John Deere after 37 years of dedicated work. Melvin was a member of UAW Local 450. He loved spending time with his family and attending family picnics.

He is survived by his son, Michael D. (Janice); his daughter, Vicki D. (Mark) Short; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; and a son, Terry.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. A visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 pm, Friday, February 12, 2010 at the funeral home.
