Mary Rynning Young

Mary Julia Young, 89, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010 in Gallatin, TN. A visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 14th at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Indianola, with burial following at I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Mary was born in St. Paul, MN on April 19, 1921, to Martin and Gertrude Dinehart Nelson. She retired in 1983 from Greyhound Bus Lines after 30 years of service as a Ticket Agent.

Mary is survived by her son, Harland Rynning of Des Moines; daughter, Gwen (Galen) Kurth of Gallatin, TN; brothers, Harold Nelson of South Dakota, Doran (Loraine) Nelson of New York, Roy Severson of South Dakota; sisters, Elizabeth (Roy) Clarke of South Dakota, Minnie Hein of South Dakota, Mabel Helgeson of North Dakota; stepsons, John Young, Joe (Ellen) Young; 21 grandchildren and 6 step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert S. Young; daughter Helen Mae Tolbert; brothers, Marshall and Chauncy Nelson and stepson, Vernon Young.
