Norman E Veatch Norman Edward Veatch, 83, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017, at the VA hospital in Des Moines.

Norman was born August 23, 1934, in Davis County, Iowa, to Howard and Mamie (Slonaker) Veatch. He served in the United States Army in Korea. Norman married his first wife, Sharon, in 1959. He was employed by New York Life as an insurance agent for 30 years until he retired in 2001. Norman then married Gisela Oschmann in 2001. Norman was a member of Adelphi Calvary Baptist Church in Runnells, Iowa. He was a born-again Christian putting his trust and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and his beloved dog, Harley.

He is survived by his wife, Gisela; children, Martin J. Veatch (Debbie), Paul E. Veatch (Parvin), James F. Veatch (Angela), Ryan D. Veatch (Valorie); step-sons, Jeff Pliler, Shane Pliler, Greg Pliler (Desiree); 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon K. Veatch; sister; and two brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Adelphi Calvary Baptist Church, 7925 SE Vandalia Drive, Runnells, IA, with burial immediately following the service at Mitchellville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Adelphi Calvary Baptist Church in loving memory of Norman.
