Mary Ann (Brabbs) Stewart Mary Stewart, 85, passed away January 14, 2018, from injuries sustained in a car accident.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 17, 2018, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Saylor Township Fire Department, 211 NW 54th Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50313.

Mary was born January 12, 1933, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Jesse and Hazel (Dooley) Brabbs.

She graduated from Madrid High School in 1951 and from Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in 1954. Mary worked as a student nurse and registered nurse at Iowa Methodist Hospital for 35 years.

Mary was never one to sit idle. She enjoyed travelling, playing the piano, gardening, walking, reading, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, technology, getting together with longtime friends, and many other hobbies.

Mary is survived by her husband of 62 years, Franklin Stewart; children Michael Stewart (Vinnie), Susan Moon (Doyle), and Steven Stewart (Kim); three grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, David and George, and grandson Doyle W. Moon, lll.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing Alumni Association or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
