Chaiya Cavan

Chaiya Cavan, 40, was born on November 24, 1983, in Des Moines, Iowa to Samroui and Tinh Cavan. He passed away on April 24, 2024. Chaiya was raised with three siblings, his eldest brother, Pida, his older brother, Pat, and his older sister, Southida.

He was loved by everyone who he came in touch with. Every room he entered you would always see him smiling ear to ear. Chaiya was the life of the party. He practiced Tae Kwon Do when he was younger. Chaiya loved to draw. He had such a curious mind. He would always take things apart and rebuild them, especially cars. He loved spending time with his son, Camrey.

Chaiya is survived by his mother, Samroui Cavan; father, Tinh Cavan; sisters, Bouthi and Southida (Long); brothers, Pida and Pat (Noi); son, Camrey; nephews, Skyler, Chayton, Jessy, Troy, and Junior; and niece, Raine.

Funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2024, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery, 4909 University Avenue in Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Chaiya.
