Mom, I wanted to share this during the funeral service but felt it was too long - so I'm sharing it here...love you so much and Georgie will always be a part of the fabric of our family.
"When I think of George - we call him Georgie - it makes me smile.
He didn't waste words or try too hard to get people to understand his point of view, he just was who he was. And who he was was a tender-hearted father, husband, grandpa and great-grandfather, wrapped in a solid, sturdy man. His voice could be grufff, but his gentleness was never far from the surface.
If you asked John Wayne what a man really is, he might say that a man means what he says, walks with dignity and doesn't give up without a decent fight. But for me, the daughter of Georgie's wife - my Mom Sandy - the measure of a man - her man - is the joy he brings to her life, the genuine love he shows and her ability to rest in his love.
I've watched Mom as she has loved Georgie - and as she continued to desire to be with him, regardless of of his health, taking care of his physical needs, but I noticed something else: Mom would bring cookies, sweets, blankets and new pajamas - she was always thinking of what else Georgie might need, and quielty but powerfully took care of him.
I was so glad that my daughter (8 years old now) was able to witness this kind of caregiving and selflessness. When I asked Mom how she could work so hard and do so much, her answer was simple: "I'm still in love with George". To see your mother happily loving her husband is one of the best gifts in the world - and I think it tells us something about the kind of man Georgie has been to all of us.
Thank you George - we love you and will miss you - you'll always be in our hearts."

To the family of mr Mickesh my prayers and sympathy are with you all at this sad time. Wefirst met Mr Mickesh when our daughter was old enough to drive, and was given a discount on car insurance if she was a good student, which she was, so we joined State Farm and have been with their insurance for over 49 years.
