My sincere condolences to all family and friends of David. He was a great neighbor for many years and friend for far longer. Although I no longer reside on Iowa, many of my greatest memories were born in that community. David was a community leader and many of his greatest contributions involved care and volunteer management for those affected by HIV and AIDS. I was blessed to volunteer as a host at the ALL IOWA AIDS BENEFIT and we depended on David for the audio and technical aspects at that incredible yearly event. It's not all about how long we live in this life. It's really more about what we do in whatever time we are blessed with. David packed so very much in the time he had on earth- far more than many could ever dream of accomplishing in an 80 year period. He made himself so available to those in need, including those who needed the very basics like the hungry and the homeless. His death surprised me and saddened me as I assumed our paths would cross again with another opportunity to help my fellow Iowans I'll miss him and I'll continue to remember the good he did and the fun we shared as neighbors in the condominium complex. These are all gifts. Thanks David! Peter Vincent Cannice

David was a great guy. He gave his all to the Project and many hours above and beyond. He was not only the computer specialist for the organization, but helped many clients with their problems after hours.
He was one of my best friends and I'm so thankful that we were able to share lunch and visit just a few days before he left us.
Pete, John and families, our hearts go out to you all.
Please keep us informed regarding a celebration of life gathering in the future. Many of us will help to make it happen.

I can't believe you are gone. You did so many great things for me over the years. I will never forget that. We never did get our BBQ in this year, so my next one will be in honor of you.

my heart goes out to Pete and John --David was such a special friend and he had such a big heart--we had alot of laughs together and we did share alot of tears together. He gave the best hugs. And I loved him dearly he will be greatly missed. But I know when he got to heaven there was a big crowd of folks ready to welcome him. My prayers go out to all of you. When I heard the news about his passing it broke my heart.

David was someone you imagined would live forever due to his never tiring involement and giving works to the less fortunate. Dave and me go way back to his days of his little deli , he gave out as many sandwich as he sold I think. David had a very kind heart along with a slick wit and ornery sense of humor which he balanced to give each of us a greater look on life. I am for ever grateful to him for his compassion he showed me and his wisdom he shared through out all our many years of friendship.
