Ruth Davis, 88, passed away at her home Monday, September 22, 2014.
Ruth was born August 23, 1926 in Granger to Joseph and Florence Whitaker. She lived her entire life in the Des Moines area. Ruth worked for Los Compadres, Tommy’s Good Food on East Grand and the Children’s Juvenile Home. She loved everyone and never met a stranger. Ruth was never judgmental and accepted everyone for who they are. Her home was the safe haven in her neighborhood and she made sure all of the children had lunch money.
Ruth is survived by her children, Robert (Terry) Davis, Jr., Suzan Richardson, Danny Davis and Nina (Don) Anderson; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Munyon, Bill and Claude; four sisters, Erie, Helen, Nina and Mary Jean; husband, Robert F. Davis, Sr.; son, Jerry R. Davis, Sr.; grandson, Dustin Davis; and her great-grandson, Christian Richardson.

Grandma Ruth you was a wonderful person, When we all lived in southside bottoms you treated me as one of your own grandkids. I wish there was more women like you. I will never forget you always getting on Danny or JD for something. You will be missed.

ruth you will missed a lot you was like a second mom to me sometimes you understood me before my own mom did we will never forget you you will be in everybodys heart and mine every we will all see you again some you will be with your old work parter again love you and miss you lot

Even though she wasn't my blood grandma she called me her grandson and from the moment I met her 27 years ago she also treated me like one. She was always ready and willing to listen and offer advice. I will miss all the laughs we used to have. She touched so many lives she will be missed by all.
