Betty Denin

On September 24, 2014, Betty Jean Denin (Johns/Wyatt) left her earthly home to await the sound of the trumpet. Betty was born June 23, 1926, to her wonderful and loving deaf/mute parents Paul A. Johns, Sr. and Katherine M. (Buhrer) Johns (both deceased).

She graduated from Des Moines East High School in 1944. On August 9, 1944, Betty and Richard F. Wyatt (deceased July 1968) were united in marriage across the street from her childhood home at Grant Park Church. At the age of 20, Betty believed and received her Savior, the Son of her Heavenly Father. What a joyous experience and what a change was wrought in her life at that time. To her union with Richard, five of the most precious babies were born: Vicki J. White (deceased June 1986), Kathy R. Green, Becky JoAnn Burchett, Mark S. Wyatt, and Timothy S. Wyatt. Betty also has ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. After being widowed for three years, Betty married Russell E. Denin on June 11, 1971. Russell has four children: Barb Wright, Linda Berg, David Denin, and Sandra Bauer, ten grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Per Betty’s wishes, there will be a viewing and visitation with her children present at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines on Sunday, September 28, 2014, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Also per Betty’s wishes, there will be no funeral or graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be directed to Kavanagh House in appreciation for their dignified care and compassion of Betty
