Donald A. Peek

Donald Peek, 79, was born July 13, 1935, to Floyd and Myrtle Peek in Ottumwa, Iowa. He passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on September 27, 2014.
Donald was united in marriage to his soulmate Janietta Exline on December 31, 1954, and they were blessed with five children. He served in the National Guard and Army Reserves for many years. Donald worked for Norwoodville Elementary School in the kitchen after retiring from Super Value Warehouse.
Donald enjoyed quilting, woodworking, and cooking. Above all, he cherished his family and their time spent together.
Donald is survived by his wife of 59 ½ years, Janietta; children, Donald Jr. (Samran) Peek, Andrea (Michael) Mitchell, Theresa (Kirby) Welch, Theandon (Eric) Johnson, and Nathan (Karen) Peek; 26 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; as well as his mother-in-law, Ruth Exline. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Cody Johnson; his parents, 5 brothers, 2 sisters, and his father-in-law, Max Exline Sr.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Berwick Cemetery.
