Allan was born on July 29, 1920 in Radcliffe, Iowa. He was the son of Lewis and Anna Ullestad. Raised on a farm near Radcliffe, Iowa, Allan graduated from North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1945. He began his ministry by establishing a church in Hampton, Iowa immediately after graduating from college. Allan married Georgene (Georgia) Simms on May 18, 1946 and they shared a life together that spanned 68 years. During this life time of service to the Lord, Allan and Georgene had three children, Merwin Allan, Sharolynn Elaine and Kevin Eugene.
Allan pastored churches in Iowa that included Hampton, Mason City, Keokuk, and Council Bluffs. He then accepted the responsibility of Secretary-Treasurer and District Superintendent of Iowa District Council Assemblies of God where he served for 21 years. Upon retiring from his leadership role in the District office, Allan served the Lord at both Calvary and New Hope Assembly of God churches in the Des Moines area.
Allan and Georgene enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren, serving the Lord in their church activities and traveling internationally. Allan was extremely proud of his participation in developing the Iowa church camp in Boone, Iowa.
Allan’s love for the outdoors included horseback riding, boating, water skiing, hunting and tooling leather. He shared his passion for horses with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Georgene; his children, Merwin (Crystal) Ullestad, Sharolynn Ullestad, and Kevin (Lynn) Ullestad; grandchildren, Amyee (Matt) Delaney, Brittany Elizabeth Ullestad, Benjamin Eugene Ullestad and Brandon James Ullestad; and sister, Ione (Charles) Patrick; along with other extended family members. Allan was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marian (James) Shaw; and granddaughter, Sharemi Elaine Ullestad.
