Caroyl Jean Scott

Caroyl Jean Scott, 75, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Methodist Hospital surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 18, also at the funeral home, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Caroyl was born February 13, 1939 to Lloyd Carroll and Myrtle Etta Derby. Caroyl was one of nine children. She grew up in Auburn, Iowa and graduated from Greenfield High School. Caroyl Jean was a successful waitress and worked for Babes, Latin King and Chuck’s Restaurants. Some of her hobbies and interests included gardening, sewing, jewelry making and spending time with her family and friends.

Caroyl was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd Carroll and Myrtle Etta Derby, two sisters, four brothers, and her loving husband Vern Scott.

She is survived by her sister Wanda Nell, brother Marion Carroll, four children Suzanne (Steve), Jerry (Cheryl), Carla (Steve) and Pam (Todd), twelve grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and her dear friend Mark Walker. Caroyl Jean is going to be greatly missed but never forgotten.
