John Tolley

John Junior Tolley, passed away on Friday morning December 19, 2014 at Kavanagh on 56th Hospice in Des Moines. John was born on January 31, 1938 to Helen (Hope) and Earl Tolley in Stuart, Iowa.

John served his country proudly in the U.S Navy. He was a truck driver for H & W Motor Express for 28+ years and retired in 1994. He was a Union member of the Teamsters Local 147 for many years. John enjoyed camping, driving his motorhome to Texas and being a snowbird through the winter months. Most of all he loved making people laugh. He will be missed.

John is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; daughter, Lori Farrell; step-children, Vicki Voogt, Karon Bowen, Brenda Pedersen and Helen Parkins; brother, Ron (Sherry); ten grandchildren; and other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his loyal companion, Rusty.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Burial will follow at Avon Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 22 at the funeral home.
