Raymond Franklin Hughes, 93, was born July 1, 1921 to Dwight and Linnie (Banks) Hughes in Des Moines, Iowa. He passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015.

Raymond was a dedicated member of Highland Park Christian Church. He was a train enthusiast and enjoyed spending time on his computer. Raymond was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need.

He is survived by his step-children, Gregory (Brenda) Briggle of Hopkins, SC, David Briggle of Patagonia, AZ, Barbara Briggle of Altoona, IA, and Alysia Cohee of Urbandale, IA; grandchildren, Benjamin Willson, Heidi Martin, Allison Roland, Matthew Briggle, Alexandria Cohee, and Jennifer Lee; four great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn; sister, Marjorie Smith; nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; parents; and his brothers, Wayne and Harold.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Highland Park Christian Church, 4260 NW 6th Drive, Des Moines. Raymond will be inurned next to his wife, Dolores, at Sunset Memorial Gardens at a later date.
