Service Details

Beverly Jane Love, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Kavanagh Hospice House. She was born July 17, 1926 to Harry Nels and Ruby Euphemia (Jones) Anderson in Boone, Iowa.

Beverly graduated from Boone High School in 1944 and moved to Washington, DC to work as a typist for the Navy Department. She returned to Boone and attended Boone Junior College. In 1946, Beverly started working for Northwestern Bell in Des Moines where she met many life-long friends. Beverly met Glenn Love through a mutual friend and they were married on November 8, 1952. In 1990, she retired from Northwestern Bell/US West after over 25 years of service; she took an extended leave of absence to care for her children in the interim. At that time, family was her focus and she was very involved in her children’s school and extracurricular activities.

In 1984, Beverly began her 30 year volunteer career at the Planned Parenthood “Bookworks” first working weekends with the book drop and later, pricing children’s books. After her retirement, she was responsible for the children’s book section for the annual book sale at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. She even recruited Glenn and other family and friends to help. Recognized as a tireless worker, she and Glenn were honored with the Kitty DuBois Award for outstanding volunteers in 1998.

Beverly had a strong faith and was a 60 year member of College Avenue Christian Church in Des Moines. In her free time, Beverly enjoyed reading, playing cards, and spending time with her family. She found great joy in being a loving and supportive grandmother.

Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Glenn; her children, Douglas Love of Houston, Texas, and Anna Love (Rick) Pauley of Clive; her four grandchildren, Kathryn, Bennett, Jacob, and Maxson Pauley of Clive; her sister-in-law Jane Anderson of Springfield, Missouri; many nephews and a niece; and her very special life-long friend, Barbara Derby of Ames. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Richard, and life-long friends, Catherine Kline and Irene Clark. The family appreciates the caregiving assistance from Kim Carstensen who helped make it possible for Beverly to remain in her home.

A memorial service will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 12 noon with visitation from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon prior to the service.
