Robert Greenslate

Robert Nile Greenslate, Jr., 85, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Unity Point Hospice Taylor House.

Robert was born October 25, 1929 in Greenup County, Kentucky to Robert and Anna Greenslate. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Force during the Korean War. Robert graduated from the University of Houston and worked as a Metallurgical Consultant.

Robert is survived by his wife, Waldine; children; Nile (Wanda) Greenslate, John (Gina) Greenslate and Carol Greenslate; grandchildren, Allana Greenslate and Robert Graham; sister, Maryann Noxsel; and a blended family that includes Waldine’s children, Mandi (Charles) Leaf, Fritz (Beth) Gookin and Marty (Diana) Gookin; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Paul; and his wife, Shirley.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. A private family burial will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton, Iowa at a later date.
