Samuel Craig Washington, 50, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015 at University of Iowa Hospital. He was born October 31, 1964 in in Peoria, Illinois to Eugene and Betty Washington.

He attended Christ Apostolic Temple for many years as an usher and a member. He loved spending time with Tereasa and their children. He enjoyed watching TV, was a sports fan - especially the Chicago Bulls, and liked cooking and traveling. He was always cracking jokes and could always make people laugh. Samuel was very good at caring for people and his job in the health care field at Fountain West was very important to him. He worked as a nursing orderly for over 25 years.

Samuel is survived by his wife, Tereasa Washington; children, Dentaro Lee, Larry Golston, Jr., Yolanda (Dontae) Terry, Samuel Washington, Jr., Cordara Farr, Brittney Washington, Beaunga S. Farr, and Jordan Craig Washington; 21 grandchildren; sisters, Pamela Hutchins, Robin Washington, and Terae Benjamin; brother, Patrick Shivers; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a host of extended family and beloved friends.

Services will be held Friday, September 4, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Family will begin greeting friends at 12:00 p.m., with funeral service to begin at 1:00 p.m.
