Matthew Cizek

Matthew John Cizek, 28, of Des Moines, tragically lost his life on Friday, September 11, 2015 outside his home. Matthew was born on January 10, 1987 in Des Moines to Robin Cizek and Andrew Baker.

The name Matthew means, “Gift from God” and those who were close to him knew he was truly a gift. He had a bright and magnetic personality. Matthew was always laughing and joking around, making everyone smile. He loved the outdoors, fishing and hiking. Matthew simply loved life. He was a good man with a good heart, a loving son, brother, husband and father.

Those left to mourn the loss and cherish his memory are his wife and son, Megan and Ryder; his daughters, Nalani and Nalia, (Alyssa and Lynn); and his son, Gage (Amanda); mother, Robin Cizek; father, Andrew Baker; sister, Cassie Cizek (Nick); grandparents, John Cizek and Bonnie Witt; in-laws, Michael and YvonneThompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Joyce Cizek; great-grandfather, Raymond House; and his grandfather-in-law, Jim Jensen.

The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

At a later a memorial service will also be held in Keokuk, Iowa.
