Rodney Ray Pemberton, Sr., 76, passed away Monday, October 5, 2015.

Rodney was born February 25, 1939 in Mitchell, Indiana to Richard and Elsie (McFarlin) Pemberton. He was a lifelong resident of the Indianapolis area prior to moving to Des Moines, Iowa. Rodney served in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1960. He worked as a lathe operator for Cams Inc. for over 25 years and for Carrier Corp. for 5 years, retiring in 2009. Rodney’s passions in life were boxing, fishing, building and flying model airplanes, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Rodney Jr. and his daughters, Deborah Harlan (Joe), Cheryl Petrey, and Angel Pemberton; his sisters, LaDonna Ellshoff and Patty Gregg; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Rodney was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Radez and his brothers, Tony and Dick.

Burial with military honors was held at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa.
