Clinton Wolf
May 15, 2016
Reverend Clinton Duane Wolf passed away on May 14, 2016 at the Granger Care Facility in Granger, IA. Clinton was born to Paul K. and Genevieve Wolf in Hampton, IA on May 18, 1931.
Clinton joined the Iowa National Guard in May of 1948 and retired 43 years later with a state rank of Brigadier General. He served as State Chaplain for the Iowa National Guard where he earned the nickname of “Chappy” from his fellow service members. Clinton graduated from Hampton High School in 1949. He then continued his education at the Iowa State Teachers College and Drake University where he received his Master of Divinity and was ordained in May of 1960. He later became the Regional Minister for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Upper Midwest. In retirement he was an interim minister for various churches in Iowa. He was a minister at Runnells Christian Church where he developed long time friendships with many in the congregation.
Clinton resided in Carlisle and Des Moines for most of his life. Clint enjoyed owning and running his two Baskin-Robbins stores, fishing in Canada, and flying his Cessna airplane.
Clinton is survived by three daughters, Linda (Robert) Sloan of Blue Springs, MO, Phyllis Bouley of Windsor Heights, IA and Dawn (Matt) Sassatelli of Urbandale, IA; three step-children, Michael (Denise) Brown of Dallas Center, IA, Linda (Walter) Hershey of Chattanooga, TN and Jeff (Frieda) Brown of Pleasantville, IA; a sister, Bessie (Alan) Tapper of Cedar Falls, IA; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and by his nieces and nephews.
Clinton was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; father, Paul Wolf; his mother, Genevieve Koester; and his step-father, William Koester.
We would like to give a special thanks to Rose at St. Croix Hospice as she is a wonderful, loving person who helped our family during the last few days of our father’s life. We would also like to acknowledge the exceptional care that he received from all of the staff at the Granger Care Facility.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines, and the funeral service on Saturday, May 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the Runnell’s Christian Church. Private burial with full military honors will be at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, IA.
Flowers are welcomed, however, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to St. Croix Hospice or Runnell’s Christian Church. Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

Clint baptized me at Bladensburg Christian Church, Bladensburg, IA in 1958, it was Easter Sunday. I was 11 years old, but remember him as a wonderful, friendly and fun minister. Our small, country church enjoyed him on week-ends only, but appreciated him very much. Please accept sympathy and prayers from our congregation.

Clint was State Chaplain when I joined. He was a great man, a fine Christian and a great example. I believe that my military career was successful because Clint got me started correctly. He will indeed be greatly missed.

Our prayer support and love for all the family. We are sorry that we will be out of town during the visitation and memorial. We shared many years in ministry. Our daughter, Ellen worked for Clint in the Ankeny Baskin Robins when it was robbed!

DAWN: I am so sorry that I left your name off my first message. What a great picture of your father. That smile always had a big laugh behind it. He would want all of you to be happy and share some great memories. I wish I was there to tell you a few about him and Burt. Love you all, Marilyn

LINDA AND PHYLLIS: I JUST VISITED WITH CAROL. SORRY TO HEAR OF YOUR FATHER'S PASSING. I HAVE LOTS AND LOTS OF GOOD MEMORIES WHEN YOU LIVED IN OSCEOLA.
YOUR FATHER AND BURT ALWAYS HAD SOMETHING TO
LAUGH ABOUT. WE ALSO HAD
MANY MEALS AND FUN TIMES TOGETHER. BURT AND I WENT TO SEE HIM AFTER WE MOVED BACK FROM LAS VEGAS IN 2011. I SAW
HIM AND PHYLLIS A YEAR AGO AND ALSO LATER WHEN CAROL AND HE DROVE TO ANITA WHERE WE MET FOR LUNCH. HE WAS A GREAT MINISTER AND FRIEND. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH. MARILYN
