Alverda Karaidos

Alverda Karaidos passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the age of 96. She was born December 22, 1919 to Ralph and Laverna in Fonda, Iowa.
Alverda had a passion for antiquing and owned and operated her own store called Alverda’s Antiques. She and her husband, James owned Chili King Restaurant prior to owning her antique store. Alverda loved listening to Polka music. She will be remembered as a great cook and the “Neighborhood Mom” since she was known to take care of everyone.
Alverda is survived by her children, James L. Karaidos and David G. Karaidos; grandchildren, Shawn (Angie), Jason (Samantha Jo), and Samantha; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Joy Rice and Darlyne Longnecker; and nephew and niece, Robert R. Rice and Lynda Rice.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial of cremated remains will be at Cedar Cemetery in Fonda, Iowa at a later date.

she is my great grahma and i loe her for everything I didint get to see her much but i could tell shes a great grahma i will always remember her

Jim, I am so sorry to read of your mom's passing. I have many memories of her during high school days. She had a good long life. I hope your good memories help you through these days.
