Sarah Beth Burgett, age 27, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016 due to injuries sustained in a car accident. Her unexpected passing has left her family heartbroken. Sarah could light up any room she entered and was loved by many.

Sarah was born June 6, 1989 in Mission Viejo, California. Her family lived there until she completed the 8th grade, after which they moved to Iowa, where she graduated from Urbandale High School. She earned a spot on the Honor Roll and was two-time state dancing champion with the Urbandale Jaywalkers. After graduation, she went on to attend Kirkwood College and the University of Iowa, where she made the Dean’s List, and was currently working towards her master’s degree at IUPUI in Criminal Justice Reform & Public Policy and Sociology, all while working two jobs.

Sarah enjoyed attending music festivals, movies, and plays and was an avid reader. She was profoundly artistic. She was a talented seamstress and her sister will treasure the wedding pillow she made. Sarah was an animal lover and her dog, Zuko will feel her absence deeply.

She loved her family; they were her world. She loved hanging out with her big brother, Joe and his friends and spending time with her nieces and nephews. Her many friends were an extension of her family. She dealt with tragedy and disaster with a smile. Anger was never an option. She cared for herself last, and her family & friends first. Acquaintances were treated like friends on first sight. She didn't care if people judged her, but she would never judge back. There's no cliché statement about love, happiness & hope that she didn't embody. Her spirit was free and her soul was strong.

Sarah will always be lovingly remembered by her parents, Steve and Marybeth; fiancé, Kyle; sisters, Carrie (Mike), Lori (Jeremy), and Tina (Scott); brother, Joe (Kylie); her nine nieces and nephews; and her aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family and friends.

She is greeted in heaven by her grandparents, Roy and Harriett Burgett and Howard and Bunny Swanson, and her aunt, Joanne Baker.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
