Vertus D. Frick

Vertus D. Frick, 88, died peacefully on August 19, 2016 at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston. He was born in Hartley, IA on June 9, 1928 to Edward and Irma Frick.

Vertus started out as a farmer before moving to go to work at Thermogas and Seneca Oil in Des Moines. Upon retiring, he drove a school bus for Ankeny Schools and created his own farming operation, Apache Farms. Vertus enjoyed gardening and listening to Lawrence Welk. He was an avid traveler throughout his life.

Vertus is survived by his daughters; Pat Peters, Peggie (Bryan) Lundstrom, Pam (Jerry) DeMouth and Paula (Chris) Williams; grandchildren, Chris (Jennifer) Santa Ana, Curtis (Sally) Santa Ana, Jeremy (Shelly) Lundstrom, Jeff (Jess) Lundstrom, Jake DeMouth, Luke (Lindsay) DeMouth and Matthew Williams; and great-grandchildren, Caroline, Jackson, Wade, Pierce and Lane.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche; brother, Alvin; and sister, Irene Klein.

A private family burial will be held at the Elkhart Cemetery.
