Christie Staley
August 20, 2016
Christie Anne Staley, 57, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
There will be a celebration of Christie’s life from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines.
Christie was born December 30, 1958 in Des Moines, Iowa to Carroll and Verla (Juhl) Richards. She enjoyed gardening and was a fabulous cook who was well known for her spaghetti and meatballs. She had a creative nature and was very meticulous. Christie was kind, loving, generous, and had a heart of gold. She always put others ahead of herself. She was an animal lover and especially adored her dog and her granddogs, Toto, Biscotti, and Penny. Christie loved being outdoors and enjoyed the ocean and time spent deep sea fishing and traveling. She was very mechanically inclined and knew how to “turn a wrench.” She was extremely feisty, fiery, and spunky and she had a strong zest for life. Above all else, Christie treasured time spent with her family.
Christie is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Tim; daughter, Megan Staley (Nicole Sena); son, Rex Staley (Stephanie); granddaughter, Meredith Anne Staley; sisters, Gloria Reimers and Irene Whatling; and many other loving relatives and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carroll and Verla Richards and her siblings, Carolyn Owens and Jimmy Richards.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Animal Rescue League or Mercy Hospice in Johnston in loving memory of Christie.
