Service Details
David Denning, age 66, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines after a courageous battle with melanoma cancer. There will be a graveside committal service at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Young Cemetery in Truro, Iowa.
David was born September 26, 1949 in Ames, Iowa to Cecil and Dorothy (Wantz) Denning. He was self-employed as a custom home builder his entire life and also worked for Randolph’s Transportation in Traer, Iowa as a truck driver for the last 15 years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid golfer and a Cardinals baseball fan. He was a mentor and a teacher to many.
David is survived by the love of his life, Rebecca Denning; daughter, Lara Denning; step-daughter-in-law, Joni Griglione; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Jeannette (Don) Priest; brother, Bob (Deb) Denning; brother-in-law, Dan (Diane) Gracey; sister-in-law, Penelope Moneyhun; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Dorothy Denning; daughter, Malinda Marie; step-son, Richard Griglione II; father-in-law, Carl Gracey; and mother-in-law, Beverly Wiffler.

We just learned of the death of our new neighbor and so sad to hear it. Dave always had a twinkle in his eyes whenever you spoke to him and watching him these past few months work on his and Becky's new home, we can tell he is a hard worker. We are sorry that we won't have the chance to get better acquainted with Dave but will help Becky and Joni as much as they will allow us. They both are good neighbors and our prayers continue for them and family members for the days ahead.
