William L. Newlin, Sr.

William L. Newlin, Sr. was born August 8, 1927, in Casper, WY to Lyle O. and Maxine L. (Venn) Newlin. He was a resident of Des Moines most of his life. He passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at the age of 89.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. William will be laid to rest at Laurel Hill Cemetery next to his wife, Darlene following the funeral.

William worked for AMF Lawn & Garden as a foreman for over 40 years. He loved having garage sales with his daughter, Norma.

He is survived by his sons, Jerry Palmer (Sammy) and William Newlin, Jr. (Cheryl); daughter, Norma Boozell (Richard); grandchildren, Angela, Elaina, William, Margaret, Monica, Tina, Rick Jr., Becky, Shelly, Jimmy, Carrie, and Dennis; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

William was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; parents, Lyle and Maxine Newlin; children, Sonny Palmer and Jimmy Newlin; and his siblings.
